A delegation from the Alavi Foundation headed by Foundation President Dr. Houshang Ahmadi and Dr. Alireza Ebrahimi attended an interfaith gathering held by the Islamic Education Center of Maryland. The program, entitled “Knowing our neighbors”, sought to celebrate the diversity of various faiths religions and traditions, with guests and religious leaders from Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faiths.

Speakers included Rabbi Adam Raskin, Senior Rabbi of Congregation Har Shalom, Reverend Dr. Carol Flett, Ecumenical and Inter-religious Officer for the Diocese of Washington, D.C., Hujjat Al-Islam Sheikh Jalil, Assistant Imam at Islamic Education Center, Reverend James Isaacs, Assistant Rector of St. James' Episcopal Church, Sister Maryam Agah, teacher in Islamic Schools and a Lecturer in Islamic topics.

The audience was provided the opportunity to learn from each speaker the important role family plays in communities and also provided guidelines for supporting families, after which I.E.C. hosted a family dinner.
